Scleromalacia perforans associated with Crohn's disease Treated with sodium versenate (EDTA)

چکیده
Scleromalacia perforans is most frequently associated with rheumatoid arthritis. A necrotizing nodular scleritis proceeding to scleromalacia perforans is sometimes seen in the collagen disorders systemic lupus erythematosus, periarteritis nodosa, and Wegener's granulomatosis. Rarely scleromalacia has been described in porphyria and herpes zoster (Duke-Elder and Leigh I 965; Fran§ois, I 95 1) . The following case is presented as the first report of scleromalacia perforans associated with Crohn's disease. An additional feature which prompted this report was the beneficial result obtained from the topical application, as an anticollagenase, of sodium versenate (EDTA).

متن کاملInfliximab treatment in a case of rheumatoid scleromalacia perforans.
Ocular rheumatoid disease manifests as hyperemia of the conjunctiva and episclera, and in severe cases, episcleritis can result in nodular sclerotic and scleromalacia perforans. A clinical case of scleromalacia perforans in a 56-year-old woman with 20 years of seropositive rheumatoid arthritis of functional class IV is presented here. During that period, she received exclusively non-steroidal a...
متن کاملNecrogranulomatous scleritis treated by an onlay scleral graft.
Necrogranulomatous scleritis (scleromalacia perforans) may be associated with rheumatoid arthritis (rheumatoid nodule of the sclera), with the necrotizing vasculitis group of diseases, or confined to the eye without overt evidence of associated systemic disease (Sevel, i965, i966, I967, i968a,b). The purpose of this paper is to review the clinical features of a further case of necrogranulomatou...
